More Details

“After almost a decade of accessories, I wanted to make you a jumper. One with provenance, considered design and effortless wearability. The wool is traceable to the farms it came from. The saddle-shoulder design is a nod to a utilitarian menswear style that is enduring and endlessly wearable. Originating in the early 20th century for athletic and military menswear, the traditional saddle shoulder style offers ease of movement and comfort. It is a creamy, natural colour - reminiscent of whipped butter. And wool, like butter, softens over time. With care this piece will serve you for years to come.” - Lou

The Wool

Made from 100% Bluefaced Leicester, a pedigree British breed, spun in Yorkshire. The colour is undyed, a natural shade of ecru. Your jumper purchase will come with a QR code to show the British farms that supplied it.

Fit

One size. Fits UK 8-14.

Garment measurements (laid flat):

Width (underarm to underarm): 55 cm

Length (shoulder to hem): 54 cm

Sleeve length: 70 cm

Lou is UK 10/12 and 5ft6”.

Care

Air often. Hand wash cold, dry flat and store folded.

Like all wool products, this jumper may pill with wear, particularly in areas of friction. This is a natural characteristic of the fibre, not a fault. A fabric comb may be used to remove pills.

Before You Decide…

How does it feel against the skin? Bluefaced Leicester features an exceptionally long, smooth staple fibre, it lacks the rough quality of traditional heritage wools. How it’s worn varies person to person. Some prefer to wear with an under-layer, we would recommend cotton or silk. However, some choose to wear with nothing underneath.

Why only one colour? This was perhaps the simplest design decision of all. Undyed yarns undergo less processing so they also retain more of the natural properties like lanolin. This natural wax acts as a protective shield. It makes the sweater naturally water-repellent, highly stain-resistant, and more durable over years of wear. The shade itself is rich, and reflects the organic palette of the sheep’s fleece. However, we are also partial to colour so never say never.

Can I wash it? Yes, we would suggest as infrequently as possible. Air it often.

Can I dry clean it? Yes, we would recommend an eco-dry cleaner who specialises in natural fibres.

What about spots/stains? Wool is very hardy and water-resistant by nature but gentle blotting and spot-washing with a wool-friendly laundry detergent is recommended.

Why Bluefaced Leicester? When Lou owned a wool shop, she stocked a baby wool that was 100% natural and had an incredible lustre. It was Bluefaced Leicester.

Why only 40? Dictated by our factory minimum, this limited run reflects our objection to manufacturing to excess. We produce only what can be justified, ensuring zero waste and absolute intentionality.

Why made in London? It is simply where we found the best manufacturing partner who understood our business model, our mission and could execute the highest possible quality of production. It is also happens to be where we design and are based.

Where do you ship to and will you accept returns? Almost everywhere, and yes of course. UK returns are free, USA & Canada will have a flat rate and the rest of the world will depend on destination. More details can be found here.
