SUSTAINABILITY

As a company and an individual, Lou Dungate is committed to long-term sustainability and ethical production.

All Lou Dungate pieces are made with yarns spun in a family-owned mill in Italy that is over 50 years old. The mill is committed to the highest possible ethical and environmental standards of cashmere production, and is a member of the Cashmere and Camel Hair Manufacturers Institute Committee - an association that safeguards prized textile fibres around the world.

Lou Dungate focuses on the sole use of 100% natural and high quality materials, that are produced with minimal impacts on the environment. Each piece in the collection is made using fully-fashioned knitting machines that virtually eliminate waste yarn.

The paper tags used on Lou Dungate products are fully recyclable and biodegradable, made with pulp that is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

A Circular Fashion Model

By 2030, our aim is to establish a circular fashion model by offering repair services and recycling facilities. The beauty of working with natural fibres means that Lou Dungate knitwear can be felted, to create new products like slippers and coats. As the company grows to include new products, it will be imperative that all materials sourced can be recycled and repurposed to endure a second or third or even a fourth life.
