Featured Artist: Sir William Nicholson
When creating accessories at Lou Dungate, we draw upon many sources for our colour palettes, shape design and even a general mood or aesthetic. Artists whose focal subjects concern nature or the outdoors are often an affinity of ours, being of a seasonal and sustainable nature ourselves.
Sir William Nicholson, 5 February 1872 – 16 May 1949, was a British painter of still-life, landscape and portraits. His paintings often use expressive brushstrokes, muted colours and considered composition. His focus on nature, whether on still-life or the English landscape, is particularly inspiring and evokes a sense of mindfulness and presence.
